Here's something to consider-

A lot of people are speculating that the original extreme DRM policies may have been part of a bargaining tactic, as in, they were showing us an intentionally bad product in order to make the next 'fixed' version look much better by comparison. Their PR attitude has been pretty suspicious lately and the short timeframe in which they claim to have changed the console so drastically is suspect as well.

So, it's possible the hardcore DRM version wasn't the 'real' Xbox One at all, it was just a 'scary' Xbox One to make the subsequently announced real console look more friendly and give them a chance to use an "Our valued customers spoke, we listened!" line.

But it's also possible that they were really that dumb, and now they're attempting in a panic to act like they're capable of easily fixing their mistake. If that's the case, hey Microsoft, let's discuss being allowed to disable the Kinect spy-cam as well.

While I'm not working for Microsoft so I can't say for certain, I find this highly doubtful. It is never good practice is the PR world to make your company ever look anything but perfect.

The reason for the DRM stuff was that it was the side-effect of moving to full digital gaming. It was to allow you to share or give your games across the internet instead of by disk. And to allow you to buy a game on disk and then not need the disk in the tray to play it (two of what were my favourite things about the XB1)

But as customer feedback indicated the majority of people either didn't want these features, didn't understand them or didn't think that the 24-hour check in/license activation was a fair trade for them, which is fair enough.

I personally am sad to see them go, but I understand it's for the greater good. Theres no point catering to the minority. They obviously need to have as big a player base as possible to ensure the best overall experience.

Sorry to all of you Xbox fans out there but this is the truth. Microsoft only cares about two things money and power. The added the ideas of making it so you always need internet (every 24 hours), you need a kinect for it to be used, and you cannot use used game for power. The ideas have caused everyone to want to change to PS so they changed their ideas back so they can still have money and some power.

Firstly, they have said right from the outset that used games were still going to exist and they never had a chance to release details before the 180, so we'll never know what their policy was going to be.

The rumours for the used game system were that there was going to be an XBL fee that needed to be paid when you purchase a used game. Which would kinda make sense, seeing as you're trading in the disk... but still have a full copy of the game permanently attached to your Gamertag you can still play on any Xbox in the world.

And as I stated in a previous post. They had a perfectly good reason for the 24 hour check in (although I admit you have every right to be upset if you don't have access to the internet, or if your internet goes down for an extended period)

Scenario - the original XB1 DRM, but without 24 hour check in

Example - John buys a game, installs it and plays it. He then gives the disk to a friend, who installs it and plays it... while john is still playing it from his hard drive, John's friend (let's call him Jack) gives the disk to Jill and she installs it and plays it, while both John and Jack are still playing the game... Rinse and repeat hundreds/thousands of times and everyone in the world has a copy of the game but only a half a dozen copies were ever bought. Microsoft goes broke and Xbox disappears forever.

A company made an innovative decision that resulted in negative feedback and poor sales.
Then they had the hide to listen to that feedback and changed their policies to address the issue?
God forbid any company listen to it's user base and do what they want.
Then they have the audacity to make more money because of it? The Nerve!

On a side note:

The biggest pros that everyone used to use to justify buying the ps3 was either

Blu-ray which is fair enough (although at the time i bought my 360 it was still cheaper to get a 360 and a dedicated Blu-ray :P)

or

Free online multiplayer.

My question is this: Why isn't there a bigger fuss that PS4 multiplayer is now a paid service? I thought that would have been a huge source of discontent, or did it just got drowned out by the furor surrounding XB1's decision to move from disk->digital gaming?
