"New Pieville" Arena

Well, pieville has pretty much earned a name for itself by being a big sloppy post-apocalyptic city. But no more! We are starting work on "New Pieville", and the first part will be an arena. (Pics coming tomorrow.) We are just starting, but have a plan for the overall layout, and the two realms flattened and purchased. The arena will be nether themed, with lava, netherrack, soulsand, and glowstone. This will be the first arena with advanced redstone traps on minerealm (I think) and we hope that the chance of being killed by a person or the environment is 50/50. Does anyone have any ideas, tips, donations, or cheap glass prices for us? If you do, thanks. The arena can be found right near pieville, with a big stone brick wall.
Thanks for your support (or hate comments)!

first!
I haven't seen Cacti in pvp arenas on minerealm, it seems fun.

We are considering using lots of sticky pistons so that in the middle of a round part of the floor will open up and cacti wil spring out, or maybe just putting cactus around the edge.

A possibility (although a complicated one) that might be possible would be filling the ceiling with Lava and via pistons randomly opening and closing holes, so little "lava bombs" drop from the ceiling. Makes it less random because of the speed of lava but you still have to watch out for it.
Then there are naturally dispensers, will them with arrows and shoot them whenever a player steps on a pressure plate, to make it more interesting make it so there is rarely any place where he won't step on a pressure plate and indicate which dispensers are on and which off via a redstone torch.
If you make the ground of of sand a randomly appearing or even changing labyrinth would be possible too (although it would be expensive, since you need 1 sticky and one normal piston per wall segment, and in the case of changing, rather complicated too).
Naturally you can replace the random factor with a player who tries to kill both of them with lava, dispensers etc.

We were already thinking of pressure plates and dispensers, but I like the lava bomb idea… Also, we are going to flood the whole place with lava when we aren't using it so that nobody can log out and log back in to get past our security.
