Just clarifying what should we start the emeralds prices at? so when 1.3 comes out theres not 100 different prices. Whats a square nuber we can start at per emerald im thinking 1.5k (per) becuase theyre supposed to be 20 times rarer than diamonds

They may be 20 times rarer than diamonds, but they can be acquired for only a small price from villagers. I'm thinking they will be cheaper than diamonds. Also considering that there wont be any underground anyway. It depends on what price people are going to sell them for, and the people selling them will be the people with villagers.

With the eventual map extension for 4.5, there will probably be some. Admins will have to watch carefully as I believe quite a few will be x-rayed by some players. I agree with mitchie, though

Wait, so when 1.3 comes out the map will be extended?

I believe that this has NOT been officially confirmed.

Why not just wait until people start buying/selling them? There's no point trying to add fixed prices to things before you know how readily available they will be.

maxxi it doesnt really work like that because one person may want 1k for it one person may want it foe 100cr both people dont know the true value so the prices will be all over the place i just want a square number we can start selling at and villagers have good and bad trades some want 8 diamodns for 7 melons some want 32 rotten flesh for 1 emerald some want 37 gold for 1 emerald its a confusing thing so you not guranteed a good deal so whats a price we can all agree on per emerald lets start the topiv at 400cr

Mmhmm, and things will be chaotic until a rhythm for buying and selling, and a regular price, are agreed upon. That is how economies work. You cannot decide the value of something until you know how available it is, useful, practical, desirable, etc..

This makes attempting to have a guiding price to open with impossible, since the trades are all over the place.

I'd say it's worth a bit more than lapis blocks. It serves no use except for decoration. You can't make emerald tools or anything else, other than trading with villagers.

To put it simply (so that you stand a chance of understanding it).
High demand + Low supply = Higher price
Medium demand + Medium supply = Medium price
Low demand + High supply = Lower price

As we don't yet know what the demand/supply will be, we cannot price the gems.
