One of my villagers is trading an eff. V book for an otherwise impossible to get book for 44 emeralds. Is it worth it?

You might be able to make a pretty good bit of business with those. If you find a few interested buyers, get all the books you can and sell them for 50 emeralds each (cover the cost of the books + enough to buy the other offers to refresh the book offer and have enough left over for a little profit).

It really depends how fast you can get emeralds. Of you take three months to get 44 emeralds, then it is not worth it. But, if it only takes you a few days, definitely worth it.

I average about 15 emeralds a day with a poor temp set up, and I hardly spend anytime there
