Is this illegal?

Just a question, is using the map edge as a reference for finding ores illegal? Under the rules, it says no exploits, and I was wondering if using this is a bannable (ban-able? Is it a real word?) offense?

Edit: This is my 111th post :!:

The blocks on the edge of the 3D map should lie a few blocks outside the boundary of the current map, so it should not be possible to mine them or reach them.

As usual Turves is right. The border you see on the overview map is 5 (iirc) blocks away from the real border.

So it doesn't matter anyway!

Intelli once posted that if people want to go through the trouble on mining ores that way it's ok as it would probably take more time than regular strip mining.

Also, keep in mind that if you have to ask that question, you're probably better off not doing it. :D
