A poll and place for discussion on the new map or for the old map, the poll only lasts till Beta release, so vote quick. :D

EDIT: You can change you vote if the discussion below has swayed you to as it was me.

Right now, I have voted for the old map.

I see 3 ways that the new map would work out.

First, we could bring across some of the old stuff to the new map. However, if just some stuff (like frog town, arwic, etc... ) is brought across, then that will give a massive advantage to people who have been in large cities, while disadvantaging the people who are in small groups, or on their own. I personally share my house with 1 other person, so i doubt it will qualify, even through i have spent a substantial amount of time on it.

Second, the mods could bring across every house that someone wants to have saved, which seems like it is a massive time commitment for them, and will take a lot of work.

Finally, they could just wipe and have a new map. I am against this one because i like my stuff.

If the second method is what is done with the new map, than I would switch my vote over. However, it seems like that will take a massive amount of work from the mods and admins, and seems like it would be unfair to ask that of them. This is why I would say that the most likely course of action does not include that method, so I am voting for the old map. Without more concrete information on the plan, i would say that we could just stick with the same map.

But it is survival a new map with nothing is just a clean slate to all playing for a completely even playing ground along with duping being fixed(hopefully) by beta. And I get where your coming from on not wanting to lose your stuff but we all put a lot of work into our creations.. its just a fact of survival that sometime picking up and starting again is the way to progess yourself even further

Personally, I like the old map and I wasn't super well-off on that one. But I'm also not against a completely new map (even though walking to the borders again is a pain in the ass :P). I'm am most definitely against moving old things to a new map. It is just a hassle. If you're going to go new, go completely new.

I'm starting to feel this way which makes me regret making the poll, You vote. That's your choice. No changing. :/ People reading this, I switch to New map just so you know, 1 point of "this map with old map cities"

I know I'm in the minority, but I made made a house purely for storage and farms, because after all it is a survival server.
I am perfectly ok with a new map fairly often. I know that this will be unpopular but I would kind of like a new map maybe once a week, so we could start fresh to survive without houses. Maybe at the end of the week there could be a competition for the most diamonds/gold mined or coolest house.
If/when the creative server comes back up it should be permanent.

Just putting some new ideas out there...

Every week may be a bit much a but a bi-monthly map change maybe to promote independent or small group survival over large creations or towns knowing that in 2 months my house would be gone, I'd build a mud hut and just dig down calling it good to be honest :P

Meh. I'm a loner and I rarely build much beyond a basic hideout, but I'd still be annoyed with constantly having to start over. The challenge of surviving is one thing, but even in survival, your creations matter (though they're generally more defensive in nature).
