Bukkit Update Issues

With the latest Bukkit update, there have been plenty of issues and questions brought up that Intelli may be able to change or answer. (And I'm not posting about the spawn rates this time!)
To attempt to answer the question about how long it takes wheat to grow now, I ran my wheat farm and replanted it all. When I ran it, I was excited about the new item clumping feature because there was virtually no lag while I waited to collect the items.
HOWEVER, after planting and before taking the wheat to its storage box, I was killed by a creeper. I hopped back to my spot and, once again all my wheat had clumped together. But this time, instead of picking up the 10.5 stacks that my farm yielded, they all clumped into 1 stack. AKA- I lost 9.5 stacks of wheat.
Is this something that the code can be tweaked for?
What other issues need tweaking with this update?

I belive creepers now reduce your items when you die.

Creepers have been spawning out of nowhere in my experience.. I was in a cave, and killed a slime. About to grab the slimeballs (which had all combined to one stack) and a creeper spawned right in front of me and blew up, destroying the slimeballs. I can't say I like the creeper spawn rates as of recently.. I've lost so many dropped items that I had just mined or loot a mob had just dropped when a creeper comes by and destroys it.

But isnt that what the S in SMP means? However yes losing stuff is annoying.

yeah, it does mean survival. But even when I play single player survival on normal difficulty, the hostile mob spawn rates don't seem near as high as they have been on Minerealm for the past couple of days. I'm all for survival and a challenge.. but it's a fine line between having fun and just getting frustrated when things like creepers spawn one after another, and then proceed to destroy any items you're about to collect. Almost like no matter how good you are, you're at a disadvantage with these little things. At least in my opinion. Minerealm was a little too easy on the survival thing before, but now it seems a little too intense is all I'm saying. More intense than equal difficulty on survival single player.

Ive had exactly the same experiences and I lost so much, especially enchanted equipment... and all in a well lid area where I am building. Yesterday and today ive lost over 15k worth of stuff to creepers while building my new home...
I followed Intellis advice and put torches all over the place... didnt help

Well I suggest everyone invest in a shiny new set of diamond armor. And if you currently don't wear any armor at all, seriously, get iron armor and wear it everywhere.
You can survive quite a lot of creepers wearing armor.
Now, mine craft is an easy game. Once you get 24 iron, it becomes easy mode. 300 credits will get you 64 iron, so it's not even expensive. So really you can't complain about it being to challenging when armor is so easy to get.
Although if mobs are spawning in areas they shouldn't.. That's a problem. I've only seen a few more mobs, nothing that seemed to out of the ordinary. But that's just me.

I have no problem surviving, I always wear diamond armor, rarely ever die. Usually I only die when I do something that I know is risky, so I dont bring valuables with. I'm just saying the abnormally rapid creeper spawn rate is a nuisance. One example was that I killed a few slimes, was about to collect the slimeballs (since they gathered into one stack, as a result of the new craftbukkit thing) but before I could get to them, a creeper spawned from nowhere and blew up, destroying the slimeballs. And before that event and following it, creepers have been spawning insanely fast, one after another. Ive actually seen some just poof out of nowhere. It would be very irritating to have what happened to me with the slimeballs, happen when mining diamond or another rare item. It's not a survival thing, its a.. well, side effect of this update.

Yes, had problems in Skycity with mobs spawning randomly in a fully-lit storage area.
