I was thinking of making a ranch, but I heard of this 'mob limiter; Intelli put on in order to prevent too many mobs and their lag. So I had a few questions. 1) What does this mob limiter do?, and 2) how many mobs can be in a 50*50 realm?
Thanks.

Only 3-5 mobs can be in a chunk (16x16) at a time.

I believe there is a 5 or 6 mob limit, within a confined area. So you could have smaller sections of animals, but fence them apart from each other by at least 3 spaces. In theory, you could have just as many animals as long as they are quarantined in smaller chunks.
For instance, I have a barn with 5 sheep on one side, fencing, 4 squares of space, fencing, and 5 cows on the other side. Protect them well on the outer sides because wandering mobs that get too close and stay too long can make your animals despawn.

Thanks.
In your small confined areas, of which you have two, how big are they? I see you've fit 5 sheep in one.
