Regarding new map height 128 -> 256

So, apparently in 1.2, one of the changes will be that the map height will be raised from 128 to 256. The cloud level will stay the same.
As it stands now, we get about 64 blocks from sea level to the top of the map.
With 1.2, we will get 192 blocks from sea level to the top of the map (3 times the height).
So, I was wondering what you guys think about it? This could bring up some issues, it is likely new players will like to build super tall pillars to the top of the limit, and such. This will stand out even more than it does now, and be harder to clean up. This could be an even bigger problem in public realms than it is now.
How about preventing new players on public land from building in the heights of 128 to 256? Maybe you should only be able to do it in a private realm? Maybe you should have to pay to "upgrade" your realm, to gain access to the higher area. Since now it is twice the area as before.
What do you think?

It sounds like a good idea but the final word will come from Intelli.

I have to ask.
You're banned Phys. Why do you even care? You're realms have went public. Are you playing on an Alt? One would think you would not be offering suggestions to a server or be concerned with what newbs do on the map since you're not allowed to play on it.
What's the username of your Alt? Cat's out of the bag now.

I don't like the idea of restricting where and how players can build structures, particularly if it involves a fee to "upgrade" your realm, where upgrading is really just being allowed to use the feature which will, at that time, be a normal part of minecraft.
If newbies build 190-block 1x1 towers to the sky, it could be rolled back or they could be banned. As I recall, Intelli mentioned somewhere (in a thread about quick ways to get credits) that spamming garbage all over public realms would constitute griefing.
Also, agreed with what surgeon just posted. I found it odd that you posted a little while ago about how you still want a map wipe, and now this... as if you're planning on being able to make use of those changes...

I am planning to buy a realm (It'll be my 10th one

) relatively close to spawn and creating a gigantic tower (It will look nice, of course). So the new height is a plus for me

Notch states months ago (when he was first looking into this) that the cloud level would move up to whatever max height becomes.
In the sort term, pillars are easily removed and players have the right to build whatever they want in their realms (some restrictions near spawn). In the (very) long term, any expansion or or regeneration of the map could include terrain that naturally goes well above Y=128. It wouldn't make much sense to prevent noobs from building on natural terrain

Jeb has clearly stated that clouds are staying at the current level.

The terrain generator is (currently) staying the same. Mountains aren't going to be any higher than they are currently.
