I think we should organize an Olympic games for MineRealm. We need to develop a set of events and determine the frequency of said games. It would seem like a bi-weekly or monthly schedule would be best. There are several realms with stadiums capable of supporting the games, LBG arenas and the like. I would say each realm could send 2 competitors for each event.

Each participating realm should develop a flag and a 3 character abbreviated name for match labeling.

Event Ideas (try for ones not subject to lag), not all have to be really competitive, i.e. pig race is total random:

Boxing
Archery
Chicken Soccer
Boat Race, maybe an outdoor course? down some rapids, etc?
LBG
Pig Race
Swimming, multiple laps, could have redstone circuit at end swimmer would have to press before turning around and at the end.

Location Bidding & Financing:
Each realm who wanted to host a games would bid for the chance to be the host. Host would be determined by the bid amount and by the most recent games in their general region, generally we would try and move the games around a lot. A location would be subject to inspection to ensure they have adequate room to host the games and realm staff to manage the audience. The host realm would be entitled to 50% of the proceeds from ticket sales to the games, prices to be determined later, and the remainder would go to the Olympic agency from which prizes would be handed out.

Prizes (subjet to change):
To be subject to full prize amounts, a minimum number of players would be required for said event, say 8 players minimum.
1st Place: 8 Diamond
2nd Place: 4 Diamond
3rd Place: 2 Diamond

Yes, but someone has to find out, then CARE, and there's usually a fair use clause (while we're not going to profit in any way, it's also neither academic nor a parody, etc.). Unless you're an official representative? It's also in the initial development stages, so it's not unlikely that we'll come up with a catchier name at some point (which I would suggest, actually. MineRealm Games?).

And The3Guy, there's no need to quote someone every single time, especially if it's a long passage like that. People will know what you're talking about, and you won't needlessly extend the length of the thread.

Doesn't matter. Against the law. Use it, and their lawyers will swiftly move in to take this server down.

I like this idea. If this is implemented, maybe someday i could host it when i have my stadium, obstacle course, etc...

think we need to organize a search party, to find a good amount of land for the complex.
then we will need resources and a work force.

then we can make some of the arenas reconfigureable. e.g. the pig races, cow fishing and sprints could all be in 1 arena. but it would easier to have a different arena for the swimming and the LBG. 1 problem i see is that pig races would require saddles, and they are rare. it would be great if we could get an admin to spawn these items for participants.

i would love to work on this and would gladly supply cobble, dirt and some wool.

there would also need to be a warp, but you can only find the warp by asking a mod or member who already knows it.
