So my friend and I engineered this structure around a monster spawner, that made it rather easy to kill them. Still takes a long time to get to high levels, but faster than just walking around killing random monsters.

I believe several people use xp farms like that.

Problem is, now I got banned by jdankk for farming at my spawner. He said it is an illegal advantage.

I was very surprised as many people use xp farms (see the links in my ban appeal above) and I didn't know of a server rule forbidding it.

What is the official stand point about xp farming?

You were not banned solely for mob farming check your appeal.
