We play tons of taxes, what do you do with them? I would recommend to sponsor social projects (streets/highways!!!).

Are you talking about the 10% tax in game that we pay for transactions?

It's not as though Intelli needs the tax as a fundraiser. It doesn't "go" anywhere. The reason there's a tax is so that it avoids other certain exploits which come with having a completely liquid currency, which I won't go in to here.

I don't think the tax is actually collected by anyone--the credits taken as tax are just removed from the game's economy. This type of "gold sink" helps prevent inflation. If there was no tax, the total number of credits in the game could rapidly increase (since credits are easily obtained from mining or building), without an increase in the value or quantity of items available for sale, and so the value of one credit would decrease over time (e.g. it takes about 100 credits to buy a diamond, but if the number of credits that everyone has were to increase quickly, pretty soon people would be willing to spend 200, 300, 1000, etc credits for a diamond.)

It's a conspiracy. Intelli is secretly collecting all the credits we pay toward the server and using them for his own expenses on minerealm.

The tax is not collected by anyone. It is removed from the market to keep the number of total realm credits in check.

Just imagine there being no tax for traded goods, all that would be happening is the trading of realm credits . The only way to get credits out of the market would be through buying realms.

And even buying realms wouldn't do the job since you could sell your realms for credits, getting back the same amount you payed. It would have to be non-returning players that would carry the credits out of the economy.

If you sell back to the server, I believe you only get 9k back.

Because of the tax.

Oi... What I was actually going to say is that there are only very few community projects, but it would help to be more attractive for the server if there were such projects. And since we pay "taxes" they could be used for such projects (same as in real life). Point is that without community projects you could just play single player and its probably motivating for some players to do something for the community and get paid for it. By the way, its the same with bans... why aren't people forced to do social work to get unbanned?
