Griefing Question (elaboration)

Hello! I was wondering if I could have some elaboration on the rules as far as griefing goes. Basically, I found a monster spawner with a hole dug and some fencing placed. I'm trying to dig a minecart tunnel to connect my city to others (not associated with the big community subway system)... and well, I'd like it to be straight. I've now dug like 2.5k blocks and there's... this.

Someone clearly used it as an experience grinder of sorts, but it is public land and there are no signs or anything to tell me who "owns" it.

Is it considered griefing to tear it down for the subway system? And if so... does that mean it will always have to remain there, untouchable? I don't know who to contact to ask if they're still using it =/

I attached a picture of it, so you know what I am talking about. Also, it is located at roughly X: -597, Y: 20, Z: 3453.

Thanks!

Since no player can place it, you are allowed to break it. Or at least it can't be considered player grief.

Why not just go around it?

Make a giant hill that goes down below it.

Like a rollercoaster!

We could do that, but it would be a last resort. My friend wants it to go straight haha.

With all due respect, people, my question wasn't "should I go around this?".

I suppose I will post a sign there for a few weeks asking if anyone is using it and give contact info. I think that is fair. I will go around temporarily.

If the area has been built up as a mob grinder, then it most certainly WOULD be griefing. As the map was wiped less than 30 days ago, it is hard to believe the area is abandoned. Here's what I would do in your situation:

Go around.

Since you obviously don't want to go around, these are the steps you can take:

1. Check the surface above the grinder. If there's a sign, you will find it there.
2. If you can figure out who made it, then negotiate with them. Ultimately they would have final word on wether you can build through their land/structures.
3. If you can't find an owner, then buy the realm and wait. If no one contacts you within two weeks, then you may do whatever you want with that realm.
4. If you are contacted, then you have to allow them the normal concessions - block/chest removal. Afterwards, you still own the realm and may do as you please.

You should be aware that specifically stealing a realm in this manner is a very....grey... area in MineRealm law. If the current owners raise enough of a fuss or have good connections, then you could be facing some serious blow-back.

Thank you. Yea, if someone claims it, then I will have no problem going around as that is the only option... I'm not trying to steal it. I just don't want to go around it if there is no reason to. Also, it's not a grinder in the sense of being a huge contraption that someone put a lot of time into... it is literally just a dungeon with a hole dug in front of it... and there is no direct path to the surface... it is only connected to a series of natural tunnels. That's why I am thinking it could be abandoned. I guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks! Or, I could convince my friend to let me dig around :P
