Before you finalize your vote about a wipe, read this

EDIT: I realize, most people won't bother to read this. So I'm working on a condensed version. Be back soon. Old below

Before you vote, read this.

Understand, that your vote has immense power. The result of the poll could affect how this server progresses into the future. It is thus, in your best interest, to fully think this through, and look at both sides of the issue before coming to a conclusion. Also remember you can always change your vote. So please take the time to read this fully.

Why people would vote for "No Wipe"

People vote for "No Wipe", because they think a wipe is not necessary. People don't want to see their progress lost, because they are attached to it. They are attached to their work, and their wealth; the time they put into this world. Why? This is very long and complex, take the time to read all the posts, especially from experienced players.

Why people would vote for "Yes Wipe"

People vote for "Yes Wipe", because they think a wipe is necessary. Why? Because they see the value to the server, in the long run, of a new map. Wipes are not new, they have happened before. Why? This is very long and complex, take the time to read all the posts, especially from experienced players.

This is the difficult part for us all, to think logically and problem solve. Some things in life have an easy answer, like if you should walk into something that will kill you, or if you should not. This is not one of these things. You are faced with a question, where each option has good and benefits, and it is your responsibility to compare these benefits and choose which option you support most. Because anyone can get behind either option, and argue the benefits. The real challenge is comparing the benefits.

Have you taken the effort to look at both sides of the argument? I'm not trying to call anyone stupid or lazy, but it is your responsibility to put aside your biases, and look from both sides of the arguments. When I say look at both sides of the argument, I don't mean just read the other side. I mean go into their shoes, and try to think logically why it would be best for you. Come to some conclusions, then compare both options.

Why people actually voted for "Yes" or "No"

People voted for what they did, because they clicked a button. I can only hope they did it after taking serious efforts to consider both sides, not just because the first reason to come to mind makes sense, and because you can argue it. Anyone can argue for something that is rational. Not wiping the wipe is rational, but so is wiping it. The fact is both reasons make sense, and that is why you have to chose which makes sense most for you, but only after fairly considering both options. This is decision making. That is why I think before you vote, read through the forums, read every post in the poll thread. Then put yourself on each side, and argue for it. Then, chose which side you want the most. If you can't see the benefit of the other side, then I think your vote is a waste. Make it count!

Also, I'm not saying nobody did this. Many people did think of both sides, and clearly explained in the forum. But I think that others didn't, and that they should. That's why I made this post.

EDIT: Well, that's all I have to say. When the poll ends, I'll support the majority. But for now its all politics still! Also I removed the poll I made for this post, because it would be pretty much pointless.

You think they just randomly pressed a button?

The Problem is that most of the players on the forums have 10+ realms and/or many credits they don't want to lose.

My Solution: in-game poll, but only for realm-owners (experienced players) /yes or /no

Yeah I've recently started work on a new town that I planned on being 3x3 realms (9 Realms total) and it's a lot of work. I'd hate to see it gone before it's even finished.

TL;DR of this post:

I don't want the same thing that the OP wants so I'm going to be an ass.

TL;DR of everything happening here:

This is no longer a logical debate so now we're free to rage at each other for ten pages.
(Seriously. The wipe was shot down. What's done is done, deal with it.)

The post was actually pretty well written, but I seriously doubt he would have written an essay about the importance of reconsidering your vote if his side had been ahead in the poll.
