Fun Stats

Someone asked about the server running out of diamond, iron, ect., So I thought I'd post some fun stats about the server. Notice this is for anyone who cares, if you don't care don't post.

First some info:

Number of Realms:
Server Size = 10000x10000
10000/50 = 200
200x200 = 40000 Realms

Number of Active Players:
I'd say 150 or so, can't really get information on this.

How long it takes to mine a realm to bedrock and get all ores:
If we be very generous I'd say 10 hours.

Now lets assume about 5% of realms have been bought and mined out:
40000*0.05 = 2000
40000-2000 = 38000 realms to mine.

If we take 10 hours per realm times 38000 we get 380000 hours of mining.
If we assume that all the active players will help mine every realm we divide 380000 by 150 players and get 2533.3 hours of mining per active player. If we convert that to better terms we get about 105 days of mining per person.

TL;DR
By my Calculations it would take 105 days straight for 150 players to mine down all the realms in the world that are yet unmined.

Hai guiz I thinks we should hav a realm that keeps respawning diamonds and gold and glowstone and other stuff I want! Not just for me tho, but because every1 needs it cuz we r running out of stuff! Pretty soon there will be no places left at all in the world to mine and to build stuff!!11!!one!!

Oh, never mind then.

Seriously though, nice calculations. If you combine it with the information given here, you can get some interesting stats about how great a quantity of specific materials is, theoretically, left in the map. (Take that with a grain of salt though, because that information is from March and the world-generating algorithms may have changed since then.)

Here's the catch, though. Diamond and other valuables are specifically targeted via mining at a particular level. Thus, the supply has been disproportionately found already. Not to say that it's been DEPLETED, just that in comparison to anything else, a high percentage has been taken.

Ah, good point. And by the time you add in xrayers and other various cheaters, some areas could be pretty close to depleted in valuable materials while the majority of the realm remains untouched.
