No mods allowed, still a question regarding this.

Hello!
I'm new, my client is completely vanilla but 1 mod is installed. It's nothing more than a mod to make minecraft run smoother on my PC. I wondered of this is allowed? It's doesn't have any influence considering gameplay or anything in that direction.
Link to the mod:

Thanks for reading

No flying, attacking, summoning items. Does Optifine fit in with any of these?
Course not

No, its no mods period. Minimap is in cluded in that list, added recently by intelli.
I dont know if they will allow this or not...

Since it's not really a hack or exploit, I would be surprised if anyone protested. It doesn't really give you an advantage over anyone else, it just makes the game run more smoothly. If that was an advantage, having a better computer than another player would be hacking.

I personally use this mod and asked a to be nameless mod/admin and they felt as long as it doesn't give me an advantage then this one is ok. Mini-maps do not require the crafting of a map and in a certain light are "hacking" in a map without the reeds, iron, and redstone.

Alright, thanks.
That's the answer I needed people

. So far it isn't any advantage or cheat thing is fine. Means I probably also install Improved Chat mod again

. As I seriously miss that one.

Since this seems more like a HD texture pack patch and less of a mod, you should be fine. I mean technically you could consider texture packs themselves mods since theyre modding the image files, but we wont get into that.

Yeah, texture packs are mods, but I think they're acceptable if they don't provide an advantage. High-res version of original minecraft textures? OK. Castlevania style texture pack? OK. X-ray texture pack? Not OK.

Sooo....just to be absolutely clear (and yes a mod or admin, or preferably Intelli can/should answer this) Optifine is an okay mod? I would hate to get banned for using something that's ostensibly only use to enhance FPS rates.
I'm asking because my desktop took a dump earlier this week and while I'm waiting for parts I'm having to play on my laptop. The only thing that makes it bearable is Optifine, otherwise, it's like trying to walk through frozen molasses
