A fix for the public chests problem

I remember way back in my younger days on minerealm when I didn't own a realm. The only option I had was to put my obtained items and materials in chests of which were opened to everyone. I was constantly robbed and it made me so mad that I felt like cussing up a storm on chat. But I knew that if I did something that stupid, all my precious time and effort would be lost.

I have an idea to help the newcomers from being terribly grieved:

At some central location (perhaps near a central spawn), there is an area of land completely covered with chests in the most space efficient, yet elegant fashion. And obviously, the whole 128 layers should also be used to be most efficient. Each chest has a number that corresponds to it's location at which it is at. This is so that once you enter the building housing the chests, you can easily find a specific one.

Each player is allowed to own a maximum of 10 chests. A player can own a chest (for a fee, or no fee) by a command, specifying the chest number. A player can also disband a chest by a command. If a chest is not owned by any player, it is public and anybody can access it. If a chests is owned by a player, it is private, and that player can access it, but no other player can. There should also be a command to be told what chests the player owns. Just like plots, a chest will be disbanded and become public if the player has not logged in after a number of days. Once the player has bought a plot of their own, they may choose to move their items into their own realm and disband their chests.

Additionally, the plot of land housing the chests should not be owned by a private citizen of minerealm. Instead, it should be similar to the spawn and trading plot. It is maintained by someone, like Intelli, whom is a regular of minerealm.

Maybe after a player buys a plot, they're given a certain number of days to transfer their belongings to their own realm, to free up the number of available chests.

The only problem I see with this, is that it may be difficult to find a public chest among the so many. There should be a command to tell where a public chest is at.

Back in my younger days of Minerealm, we didn't even have realms.

Just sayin'.

You could always use the free bank.

Before I got my first realm, I put most of my stuff in chests in a little pit dug into a hillside (which I covered up when I was offline). My valuables were in a chest covered in stone down near bedrock. I never had anything stolen in the 4 days or so it took me to earn enough credits for a realm.

Another suggestion I've often heard is that you can keep your valuables in your inventory when you log off until you get a realm.

In any case, I think there are enough options for protecting items on your own that we don't need a server-run system for doing it for you.

This won't happen.

Use a free bank account at TIBOL, or simple go and bury your chests somewhere in the wilderness. Or keep all your things in your inventory until you have enough money to buy/rent a realm or a private space.

Put all your valuables in block form and place them. They can be rolled back.

well, as for the chest location, just build a tower, extends underground, with staircase, and side rooms, name each floor, and place a few chests on floor, in alcoves.

ex. -5A (would be Y-5, alcove A)

It only takes a couple of days hard work to get enough credits to buy a realm so the best thing to do is noylt to mine for diamonds etc until u have a realm that's what I did

Its is not a big deal if you're "grieved".
