Do chickens lay eggs?

I was waiting by and carefully watching a chicken for about 20 minutes to see if it would lay any eggs. I found nothing. I'm assuming they don't lay eggs on the server. Or maybe my internet's too slow and I'm lagging behind the server.

I actually do have one egg in my chest, but I have no idea where I got it from. Maybe I got it from a time when chickens could lay eggs, but now they no longer can.

Recently, I've also found a lack in animals. Usually I can walk 50 blocks from my plot and find a group cows, chickens, or pigs. But no more. Maybe this is because of my slow internet speed?

Really?........... This is basically a spam thread. Yes they lay eggs. The server is large, so there will not be as many animals in one place. Now let this thread die.

I'm just saying, before I was able to find 10 animals in a 200 by 200 area. Now I can find absolutely NONE. I was searching forever. I searched west, east, north and south of spawn about 200 blocks.

Are you kidding me!? Oh, 200 whole blocks! All that area is completely colonized, any animal there is almost instantly killed by players! Now, stop being ignorant and let this thread die. Good day to you.
