At today's meeting @notch suggested that should keep doing prereleases all the way to Minecon, so my previous tweet about 1.9 is obsolete

So we will keep getting prereleases of 1.9 till Minecon (aka the day that MC will go out of Beta aka 11-11-11)

So I guess there wont be a wipe till Minecon?????

How could this in any way be bad? This is excellent news.

2.0 was coming out with new blocks and has the release date 11/11/11. Meaning that when we wipe for 1.9 it would only be a few weeks later before the server comes outdated and needs re-wiping to keep up to date with the new blocks.

I cannot comprehend why this is bad at all, it is better in the long run.

If we have waited this long already, I'm sure we can get by waiting another month

I have to agree, in the long run, this is for the best.

Kinda saw this coming, oh well, more time to farm credit and finish projects.

That would mean a full month until the map wipe. I think the map should be wiped now so we get access to all the new additions of 1.8.

Or at least just increase the map size to 15kx15k so we can generate new chunks and get access to the new items that way.

If the map is wiped/updated now to fit in with 1.8 that means:

1 update/wipe for 1.8
1 update/wipe for 1.9
1 update/wipe for any addition 1.9 added stuff.

So 3 updates, where as if we wait until the game gets released in November, then all that is needed is 1 update/wipe.

I think it's simpler to wait till November.

How about this:

1. Inrease map size now
2. Map wipe at release

The map is really pretty damn big, I don't see the urgency for a size increase....but yeah waiting for 1.9 to FINALLY drop is getting a bit hard to do.
