Hey everyone,
This is something that we've been considering for some time, and have presently decided to implement in November. However, we're opening it up to discussion, to see what you guys think of the idea.
MineRealm Multi-Channel
How it works:
There will be two (or more) servers, each with a player limit of 75(?) players. You can join the servers either via c1.minerealm.com or c2.minerealm.com. If one server is full, it will tell you to join the other one.
There will be a linked chat between the channels. As well, any blocks placed/removed on one server will sync with the other server(s). Logging out will sync your location across the channels. Chests, inventories, etc, will also be synced.
To-note:
You will not see players on other channels.
Benefits:
There should be absolutely no lag on any of the channels.

The sync is the only thing that worries me, will the syncing itself cause any sort of lag or hiccups?

No, all block data is already logged, so there's very little that actually needs to be implemented.

In that case I have no issue at all and it sounds like a good idea.

Exactly what I am wondering....

So the plan is to reduce lag by making multiple servers, that sync up all actions a player makes with the world as the player does them. If it works, and causes less to no lag, I'm all for it. (Assuming I'm understanding correctly.)

Absolutely yes, only questions I have are as follows:
Will realm purchasing be synced immediately across servers? If not, couldn't two people buy the same realm accidentally?
Will this have any effect on the party chat? they will be synced, correct?
if you can't see other players, mightn't it be a little strange seeing their blocks disappear?
Will mods be able to check block logs across both servers? This might make catching griefers more difficult because we can't see the players name.
Generally yes, but the specifics might be hard/annoying.

I heart this idea.
