Your Opinion on the Future of MineRealm

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for your opinion on the following subject: How "vanilla" do you want the server?
I'll outline a few options. Please pick your favourite, and then vote in the poll.

Option A
Completely vanilla. You would prefer the entire realm system removed, no griefing protection, nothing.

Option B
Nearly vanilla. You would prefer the entire realm system removed, but would still like some basic griefing protection.

Option C
Basically vanilla. Keep the server as-is. A few extras, such as the realm system, as long as they don't change core gameplay. (The realm system is just fancy griefing protection)

Option D
Barely vanilla. Still nothing that changes core gameplay mechanics, but with the possibility for way more options. (A country system, etc)

Option E
Vanilla doesn't matter, as long as the server stays legit. With this option, as long as the server is legit (no items being spawned, etc (same as the previous options)), but extra mechanics may be added. A few examples: Airships, elevators, additional worlds

Option F
Definitely not vanilla, and not necessarily legit. This opens up the option for items to be "Spawned" - examples are integrated shop systems (trade credits for items with the server), and contests and item giveaways of items that were not earned by players.

I vote C, because I like the realm system, but I feel that the other features spoil the challenge. By other features, I mean being able to use /home, /trade, and /spawn to escape from danger/ skip carrying loot back to your home. These functions skip essential gameplay that made minecraft more exciting and challenging, and rewarding.

What does it skip? It skips many things. You no longer have to make difficult decisions, because you know you can escape from danger anytime with /home. It skips the adventure in returning with your loot. It skips the adventure of having to remember where you came from, checking the shadows for enemies as you struggle back, until you tame the wilderness.

These were important elements when I played single player, and I personally think lacking this spoils us. I'd still like these functions, but severly limited to prevent abuse like they are now. Only work within your own realm, or something like that.

Voted D, because a country system sounds awesome.

I like the barely Vanilla-ness of the server. Neat things like credits and realms, but nothing that really changes or adds anything to the original physics/blockset. And legit is well... legit. Spawning items = destruction of tons of hard work to get credits and realms.

Also, Physaux, you already said that in your thread a while back, and the results were a resounding "No" from the minerealm community.

Yea I know, the community didn't like that idea.. That doesn't mean I changed my mind though, and I'm just participating in a new thread xD

What about just an extra, completely non legit, roleplaying server?

Would think that both airships/planes and country systems would be cool. Still would like professional hosting to be implemented first, though :P.

Voting for D

I voted C, but frankly I'd be happy with anything except A or B. IMO, the realm system is what sets Minerealm apart from any of the other server's I've used.
