this has happened twice now..... i'm doing my normal thing, aimlessly walking around the server, when all of a sudden i just die! in broad daylight, with no mobs near me. i keep on losing (somewhat valueable) gear, and it's getting annoying. anyone know whats happening?

Maybe you were lagging. If you have a very low ping or download speed, then you won't be able to see what's happening until it's too late. For example, you might be jumping off of ledges, appearing to take no damage. Once your connection catches up, you appear to take all the damage at once and die.

For me, it's the teleports that are particularly risky. The server insists that you load the chunks first before you can move. In the meantime, you can't see what, if anything, is killing you.
