I ended up with a weird chasm around the one realm I kept. It does all the way down to bedrock level. Odd glitch from the matching algorithm, I'm assuming.

I found lots of structures at odd places like desert temples in oceans and forests, villages in ice plains...

There's always the interesting glitches and such. This is likely just a minecraft abnormality.
