Well, we have nether quartz!
Now what should the price be for a stack of either nether quartz ore, quartz blocks or nether quartz blocks?
I was think something around the price of coal.
So maybe 100 for a stack of nether quartz ore, 300 for a stack of nether quartz blocks and 400 for a stack of quartz blocks?
Tell me what you think.

Or eventually will it rise to the old price of glowstone?

Probably not that high. But prices will start to rise.

Nether Quartz Ore also gives a huge amount of XP according to the wiki. The current going price is 10K for a stack of Quartz Ore.

Well I just sold Ore to BSGSamuel at 3k/stack.

So if I were to mine all of the nether quartz, I could sell it all for a total of over 510 billion credits? And assuming the easier quartz is viewable on surfaces four times greater than the the nether's x-z area, then it is all worth over 990k? It is not worth that much.

Edit: recalculated first at over 126 million and second at over 3 million.

I'll contribute with some numbers to think about.

There is a avg. of 133 quartz ore per chunk.Source
A chunk is 16 x 16 blocks. Source
MineRealm nether is 10000/8 x 10000/8 = 1250 x 1250. (+/- 625)
MineRealm nether has (1250/16)^2 = 6103.5 chunks.
Estimated total quartz = 6103.5 x 133 = 811.7k = 12,7k stacks = 234 Doublechests.

I failed to find a source on glowstone per chunk, but my experience would say somewhere inside the range of 3-20 blocks per chunk. Please take into consideration that glowstone is only spawned on the surface of netherrack, while quartz is similar to ore being spawned inside the netherrack. I'd appresiate if somebody found this source or made an analysis of the GS spawning rate.

It will take much longer time to drain the nether of quartz compared with the GS as the quartz is also spawned inside the netherrack as stated before, so no need to worry :3

This thread asks for a "Quartz Price". The market is currently unstable as this trade has just initialized. People have no experience in selling/ buying and therefor the price is somewhere in the range of [100-10k] per stack of ore. Quartz is a non-renewable block/item with both artistic and scientific uses therefor it is expected that the price will slowly increase over time.

In my own personalized opinion I value quartz ore at ~1k per stack, however I'll rather wait 5-6 days and watch the market price stabilize.

Quartz ore is very easy to get and we will have to mine out all the netherrack before there is no quartz. Quartz isn't rare and won't be rare.
