So, for the last week or so, it seems like I can't go more than a few steps in the Nether (during prime time hours) ie more than 40 people on server, without getting a JAVA Binary error crash and dump.
Any known fixes or causes?

I made a survival world got really far in it only to go through the nether and corrupt the entire world. I couldn't take more than a couple steps without the entire game crashing.

I haven't experienced any crashes. But I did a quick google search and found some solutions.
Someone else on another forum wrote:1) Update your Java.
2) Get Optifine
3) Turn everything down to low
4) Try the nether again.
Also, press ctrl+delete and start task manager, set Java to low, and close all background problems.
If you're running 1.6 java, update to 1.7. The responses to this fix seem positive. But the responses on said forum are only a day old.
If you haven't tried it already, delete your bin folder and reinstall minecraft.

Updated Java - which was basically reinstalling the current version bcuz I had the newest version.
Deleted my BIN file and reinstalled Minecraft...
Haven't tried Optifine yet.
How do you set JAVA to LOW in the task manager????

Optifine is the way to go man. MAJOR, MAJOR lag reducer. If done properly, you won't lose any of the gaming experience to a point where the portal's all blue, fire's a big red block, and there are no particles. Well, unless it's extremely necessary for you to play without crashing.
