This is more of a visual mod to my knowledge it gives no advantage if someone wants to check that for me that'd be great.

From experience, it gives no advantages. Like you said it just changes the look.

Turves and I have both used it as Twistedanthony has also. It is purely asthetic and we have been KNOWN to use it already. it's ok. :]

Would this mean the shapeshifter mod is allowed since it only changes the look and not dimensions? (It can only do that in SinglePlayer)

I THINK this mod is purely client-side. And from what I've read just now, I THINK it's purely easthetic in SMP. But don't take this as an official awnser.
