Hi,

jdankk banned me for monster farming. I was watching TV hitting the mouse button at my spawner. He said it would be an illegal advantage.

Eventhough I read signs and the forums, I was not aware this was against the server rules, as many people have spawners and also didn't make a big secret out of it in forum and chat. I am sorry, if I broke a rule.

There are many examples of people using or referring to xp farms without being told they would not be allowed, so I am a little surprised being banned for it. Some even consider destroying an xp farm griefing.

To solve the question if it is allowed I will create another forum thread.

Please unban me. I will not use my xp farm until the official stand point clears up in my other thread (http://minerealm.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5438).

Edit: Nevermind, not a ban just for having a xp farm.

I banned you for sitting at the farm seemingly afk and constantly hitting and a regular quick interval.

I sat and watched you for 2 minutes before I banned you. You did not once stop punching.

This is usually achieved through a third party program which spams the mouse button and takes all player interaction away from the game. This method gives the player an advantage over others seeing as they don't have to do anything.

Jdankk sorry but im with him on this one... I have a spawner that i convert for XP use alot... and ill sit there on my laptop, reading a book, and clicking with my touch pad buttons while not even paying attention. I would do this for 30 minutes at a time, without missing a beat (percussion student syndrome ) simply due to the boredom of XP farming.. I don't think just pure observation over 2 minutes could warrant this as "Obviously using an auto clicker"

I am sorry for not reacting. Getting to level 50 takes several hours. Its boring, but its OK, while watching TV. I do not watch the screen continuously during that time. I only peak every once in a while.

It took you over an hour to notice that you were even banned and that your clicking no longer was doing ANYTHING?

What do you mean? I believe I must have noticed within minutes after it happened.

I feel that this is a bit unfair also. I have dual monitors, so I get to glance at the screen quite often (and usually even see it in my peripheral vision), so I have a bit of an advantage in that I can mine while hardly paying attention to the game at all. I watch TV shows and movies when I dig giant holes. I hold down the mouse button and dig until I reach the end, and then turn. As a computer science major, I could easily write a program that does this for me (although, yea... lava would be a problem lol. But this is just an example). Do I use a program? There's no way to tell. Should I get banned simply because I COULD be acting unethically?

I understand that the admins want this to be a legit server, but there is only so much you can do before you really fall outside of the "reasonable" justification of power. Banning someone just because they play differently than you is messed up. And while I understand that he COULD have been using an auto-clicker, there really is no way to tell. I think a more appropriate action would have been to kick him and put a sign there telling him to pay more attention. He probably would have been more observant then.

That's just my two cents.

I banned you at 9:41 PM CST (UTC -6). Then I received your pm asking why you were banned at 11:38 EST (UTC -5) which translates to 10:38 PM CST (UTC -6).

So why would it take almost an hour to write a pm this long

In case you wrote me a message ingame, I was watching TV while farming
monsters and did not follow the chat.
