[UNBANNED] Ban appeal: hvrock13

I was on the survival server no less than I'd say a half hour ago, when a fair amount of people were getting banned for x-ray hacks. Didn't expect I'd be banned.. but after supper, I tried to connect again, and to my amazement, it says I'm banned. I can only assume that the x-ray script picked me up by mistake, because recently I had incredible luck finding diamond. I believe I mentioned this to some people in the chat at the time, because I was concerned that my luck might cause the script to assume I was x-ray hacking. I've never used x-ray hacks, and I have stated more than a few times my dislike for those who use them. I'm strongly against the mod, since it makes it so unfair to everyone else that are playing the game honestly. There really isn't much I can do in my defense, since I can't really think of what would count as proof that I'm x-ray free.. But I suppose judging on my clean record, hopefully the mods/admins will trust my word that I have not and do not plan on ever using any hacks/modifications of any kind.
But, if my appeal is denied, I guess I have no means of defense. I still claim that I'm wrongly banned, but I understand that there is a very, very low margin of error when it comes to the x-ray banning script. So again, I swear the script picked me up on a stroke of good/bad luck..
I'd appreciate being unbanned though, as I don't have much else to do with my time, and I had some plans for my home, now that there are some new types of blocks in the game.. I may not play a huge part in the game, but I feel I bring something to the table in terms of creating attractive structures.
In summary: Wrongly banned for x-ray hacking, I found a cave with vast amounts of diamond, and I've never broken a rule and do not plan to.

Just FYI, the script now checks for gold as well.

ah, I had noticed that after posting this. Gold just seems like it would screw up the results of the script even more, since it's more abundant than diamond. At least in my experience.. I find tons more gold than diamond in my searches of far-away caves.

I think it is more common than diamond, but I suspect the main issue, if there is in fact an issue, is that unrefined gold ore can be placed after being mined--someone could get a stack of gold over the course of a few weeks, plant it around their realm, and dig it up at some point in the future (which would, I think, probably trigger the script).

I think I understand what you're saying. But why anyone would do that is a mystery to me.. I mean, in the end you'd just end up with the same amount of gold, right? Unless you mean they use the unsmelted ore as decoration. Regardless, I think the gold purge is definitely not going to work out the way the staff must have hoped it would..

That's exactly what I'm suggesting. If someone wants to decorate with gold, but doesn't have much of it, unrefined gold ore is probably the best option they have. After smelting to a gold ingot, it can't be placed as a block unless crafted into a solid gold block. And since solid gold takes 9x the amount of material compared to unrefined ore, I could imagine people doing that. Granted, the unrefined ore is rather unattractive for use in decorating (at least with the default textures), but some people could use it as a temporary decoration until they have enough ore to start making solid blocks.

Oh yeah, in my opinion, gold blocks/iron blocks (really any block) needs to only require 4 ingots or in diamond's case, 4 diamonds. Brick blocks only require 4, snow blocks are 4, stone brick is 4, 4 just seems like a good number for a block. 9 seems just like an awful lot. That being said, gold ores would be the next best thing I suppose, since the only alternative would be either yellow dyed wool or, if you have the credits, glowstone.. But that's getting a little far from gold in color. I can see people using the ores as decor though. And of course, decorating takes a lot of trial-and-error, breaking and placing, which could add to the gold collected per whatever time frame. Gold just seems like something that shouldn't be checked for by a script, based on how much more common it really is. Especially in caverns..
