Ban Request: AeginMN

AegisMN has an unmarked Hopper Trap with a fire line to ensure the kill, disguised as a "guild entrance"

He can either produce my items, and mark/destroy the trap, or he can get banned.

Oooh nasty.

Mate I do believe traps are allowed as long as its not luring. I had a similar incident with shotgun2010 where it was signed "come see the items" or something.
Not sure if this qualifies as luring.
With that said I do hope your items are returned.

It clearly states guild members only.

Unless there has been an update to the rules, this is really no different than the last ban request I made against an unmarked trap.

There needs to be a warning like "Enter at own risk" etc.

There needs to be some warning that a player will die upon attempted entry.
As for you Origami, we need to get you some Feather falling boots and a fire resistance potion.

Hmmm this one is borderline in a way. "Traps" are allowed to be made. They cannot be built near spawn or off a main path unless marked.

Now is it a main path? Yes it definitely is. Looking over the area this is literally the only entry/exit point avaliable.

Does it need to be marked? Well it does say guild members only, so should you really be playing with stuff that isn't yours?

As far as a ban, we will see I will have someone speak with Aegis if not myself and see if this issue can be resolved without a ban.

Not necessarily but in this case, yes it should be marked if it's a trap.

Like I said Rokkr, he need not be banned, but I know exactly what of mine he has, and all can be forgotten if he fixes the trap to be a bit better marked, and returns my stuff.

As far as not playing with what is not mine. That I agree with. But the trap is meant to be misleading. An argument could be made that it's luring. It is absolutely NOT a guild entrance, as it only functions to kill anyone using it. And as you yourself said it's the only obvious entrance to the structure.

You had no business pressing the button. Period. Curiosity got the better of you, and you went the way of the cat.

I modeled the trap after one that got me. (And I lost much more valuable stuff than you)

My first thought... "Guess I shouldn't have pressed the 'Guild' button"

Did I go to the forums and cry about it? No. I manned up to my mistake.

Funny thing is, if you would have simply asked for the items back, I would have given them back to you right away, no questions asked. When you have a disagreement with your neighbors, do you file a police report before talking to them?

Instead, you come online, ordering staff on what they must do, refuse to accept responsibility for your own actions, and make up "rules" out of thin air, and send me PMs threatening to have Rokkr ban me.

I talked to Rokkr, and Traps are not mentioned anywhere in the official rules. There is a passive mention to them in the FAQ, under a section on Portal Camping. Rokkr agreed that the policy is not as clear as it should be, and he is rewriting the rules to make them more clear.
Even so, the lone obvious official requirement, (not your made up one) is "Traps" are allowed to be made. They cannot be built near spawn or off a main path unless marked.

The trap was marked, as you saw. There was no lure, no promise of riches. (For the record, a button placed opposite of wall opens door) You didn't use the door for it's intended purposes. Don't blame others for your actions.

Fair enough. We will just continue on with this then.

And FYI I never said Rokkr was going to ban you, I said it was likely based on the last trap situation I found myself in.

Either way, you obviously have your own opinions on the matter, as do I.

Ban Request still vehemently valid as it appears a resolution is unlikely. There was also chatter as to AegisMN's penchant for building traps.

I would also like to note that upon Rokkr stating that "it definitely was off a main path as there are no other ways in or out of the structure" AegisMN took it upon himself to remove the bridge to the doorway.

EDIT 2: I also want to mention that I wasn't "curious" I was underground mining on the 5000 line when I popped outside of it and got teleported to the surface, I saw a huge neterrack structure and wanted to check out the build. Saw a sign that said "guild members only "do not leave button" (which in my opinion is the lure) HOWEVER, "enter at own risk" and I would have known it was a trap, and would have just left.

Marking a trap, and signifying a preferred occupancy are two entirely different things.
