[UNBANNED]Ban Appeal: Sharp_Enderman

Well, some guy came in that had "a55" at the end of his name which the filter was apparently picking up as a swear. Someone tried saying his name and the filter called 'em out on it. So I looked at the guy's name and saw that last bit so I said "Test a55". Nothing happened. Little bit later, someone said that was indeed what was causing the filter to go off, but I had just tried it. So this time I just said it all by its lonesome ("A55"). Caught a ban. This was also, as indicated above, the only time I set off the filter. I dun't get it.

Note: I do understand that testing the filter isn't the wisest thing to do.

I thought this would've already been resolved. Oh well. I'm itching to get back to my build.
(Curse you buggy filter.)

Seeing as the "Edit" button is now rare and near extinction, I shall just have to make another post.

Upon looking back, I've deemed some more information to be beneficial to giving people an idea of the context of the situation. So like I said, the guy joined with his fancy-pants name, and someone tried to say his name and got censored. It wasn't at this point that I decided to be a bit a spwecial and take the task of dissecting his name upon myself, but a few people, including a staff member (Burt), were faffing around with the silly filter. They were all, of course, getting censored and warned. A little bit into these shenanigans is when I decided to say "Test a55" and received no censor or warning, which makes no sense because that was indeed what was setting the filter off. Going to take this time to point out that I was neither trying to swear nor avoid the filter. Now a pause in my participation ensued where I just sat and watched the chat as these other individuals were getting censored and warned for the same thing that I had just tested, yet had received no warning for. Sure enough, someone said that those last three characters were setting the filter off, as I've mentioned in the original post. That's when I just said "A55" (typed in "a55", got the caps because of the plugin). Just to stress my point, this did not set off the censor when I had previously said it as well as I was not attempting to actually swear or avoid the filter. I then caught an immediate ban from the filter.

There are several things I'm going to explicitly point out (some of which I've already stressed before and I'm going to stress again):
  • • I had not set off the filter even once.
    • I should've still had a few more chances even after the filter picked up this "profanity".
    • Multiple people were getting multiple warnings over the same thing, yet not getting immediately banned.
    • I was not attempting to swear (this is mostly for the reader's sake, seeing as the filter has no way of knowing this).
    • I was not attempting to avoid the filter (once again, more for the reader's sake).
You should be able to put this and the original post together to get a fairly complete picture of the situation. I can remember a couple of people who essentially "got away with it". I recall that one of them was Burt and I believe the second person was Unbound (maybe?). There may have been another. I don't recall. That's what the logs are for. But in the end, I was the only one who caught a ban under these iffy circumstances.

I know that the appealing process is so very slow, but I get to rant and people get a better understanding of what happened. Win-win situation.
No fingers were meant to be pointed in this post.

Unbanned. It's in your best interest to just let staff know/take care of it then to test it yourself. Then you end up in situations like this.
