I was recently banned for purposely griefing the Nether spawn portal in the Nether. This was caused because I placed tnt a few blocks in front of the portal under the floor. I did not mean to grief. I was setting up a trap because Zellbud and Guadino kept killing me as soon as I went in the nether. I read the rules and understood that traps were allowed within 15 blocks of the spawn portal, and that was meant as a trap. My friend (ronaldcreeper) and I planned on rebuilding the destroyed blocks, but I was banned too fast. I am sorry that I griefed, and I have a better understanding of the rules now. Please unban me and allow me to continue to play on your server. Thank you for the help.

Well I believe you and think it was just a simple misunderstanding. Staff, help this man out and unban him. He obviously took the rules into consideration first and tried to obey them. +1

"Traps" are allowed in the nether as long as they aren't within 50 blocks of the spawn portal.

You're correct, the 15 block radius does not include traps. It's actually a 50 block radius. So you have indeed broken a rule here.

These two rules contradict each other. No wonder he didn't understand. +1 for not understanding this.

Not really. The wording could be better perhaps, but basically what it's saying is that the 15 block radius applies to all buildings except traps, for which there is a 50 block radius. I can understand the mistake if he was just skimming the rules but those two sentences are located within 4 lines of each other. But yeah I figure he just overlooked that detail as he read the rules.

Ah, I see now! Thanks for clearing that up Jack. I'm still gonna +1 because I feel he should get another chance because the wording isn't top notch. Hope you get unbanned!

Looking at the title, and not observing the realm IGN, and reading the appeal, I saw extreme irony at first.

Always contact staff first when unsure about something.

This says traps can be within 15 blocks of spawn, I imagine this is what he saw.

I can imagine that's what he saw
