I was banned for killing Chubsy in the nether while he was investigating grief.
He told me this and to not kill him, but I hit him once and he died instantly.

My intention was to mess with Chubsy, not to kill him. He had no items on him. Perhaps he was already low health, but I had intended to hit him and run off.

There is an attached screenshot confirming it was a one hit kill.

I am sorry I interupted his work, this was not my intention. It was an accident.

Why mess with him by hitting him WITH YOUR SWORD... This makes no sense what-so-ever. Why hit him with your sword, when a hand, or a potion would do 1/2 heart... Not saying that you should be hitting staff while they're doing their thing, but hitting someone with something that's not a sword, or shooting them with a bow makes much more sense.

I guess when you've fighting people on and off with full enchanted diamond and golden apples it's easy to forgot how much a sword swing will do to the unarmored.

That's why you shouldn't mess with staff when they're working. I've learned it before, unless you hit them with your bare hands, which I still wouldn't do.

It was an accident and won't happen again.

Senior, your actions could also classify as harassment since Chubsy told you to stop, but the degree might not be so severe. On the other hand, it was all out of good will, but you should still be careful with that stick, a Sharp
5 sword can kill any armor-less person in one hit. Anyways, good luck.

To answer the question, joseph was already online. He was talking to Chubsy in game and sent me the picture to use so it was clear that killing him wasn't really the intention.
