So, in Portal 2, you learn Caroline is GLaDOS. My theory is that Chell is Caroline and Cave's daughter. Here are the reasons:
1. Dis pic:

Look who the project is made by under the cursor. it also says she use moondust from "Daddy's work" or something, which was what Cave was working on.
2.
Cave, at one point, says Caroline is married to science. He might be referring to himself.
3.
The "Picture of a Lady" achievement. 2 things. In that time, you only got your picture done with epople if you were married or related. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-portr ... sification And, there is a young unnamed girl in the left, who is creepy-stalker.

4. Chell's last name was taken away on the Test Subject sheet in the Portal Comic.

5. Chell woke up in a Cryo-thinger, so she could have easily been born in like the 60's.
6. You know how GLaDOS sings you a song at the end, using turrets? Here's it in English, instead of Italian.

The timeline doesn't add up. Chell showed very childish drawings for the Take Your Daughter to Work Day in 2000 (the earliest possible date as Black Mesa and Aperature were competing for portal technology, and Black Mesa won, causing the events from Half-Life, which took place in the generic 200?) (the last time any non-test-subject humans were at Aperture). So figure she was 5ish years old. It would put her birth around 1995. Far too late for Cave Johnson to be her father (he died in 1976). Plus, Cave Johnson never worked on the Portal project; it didn't start until 1981 at the earliest. So Chell's father couldn't be Cave.

In addition, if Cave had been her father, she would have been in her 30s in 2000, too old for Take Your Daughter to Work Day (and too old to have brought such a childish drawing)

Now, if Cave and Caroline did have a child, that child would have been around the right age for their child to be Chell, which could potentially make he Cave and Caroline's grand-daughter.

In my opinion, you should use things that you're 100% sure are true, that happened in the game. I'm 17, I still draw quite a bit like that. She could have easily been a bit older. But yeah, I guess you're right. /thread
