I am curious. If I place a double chest, half of which is on my private realm, while the other half is on public land. Will people be able to access said chest, or will it be protected?

I am pretty sure that by clicking the side of the chest that is on a public realm they can access the whole chest. I am not 100% sure as that was of a few months ago.
