Of course people care about sports I'm a big Barcelona fan and a BIG Chealsea hater and what did you mean by unfortunately? It's good that people care about sports.

It's just a bunch of people running around moving balls (Or pucks, in hockey's case) into a net while sustaining blunt force trauma. It serves no purpose and is a huge waste of funds.

What purpose does Minecraft serve then? In fact, why do anything for fun if it has no 'purpose'?
