And I am join got be watching these soon:
Ponyo

-Anything by Studio Ghibli is amazing
-The OVA/movie "Armitage III" is really good (Kinda has a Blade Runner vibe to it. Also has Kiefer Sutherland in it)
-Paprika is amazing (Like an anime version on Inception)
-The Cat Returns (By Studio Ghibli as well, but different style. Also has Cary Elwes in it if you're a fan of him)
-Akira was....ok IMO (Good but I wouldn't watch it again)
-Steamboy was better IMO.
-The Evangelion movie was a friggin' head trip.
-Ghost in the Shell was ok IMO.
-Appleseed (The new CGI/Cel shaded one) was pretty darn good, and the sequel wasn't bad either.
-Macross Plus was pretty good (I only saw the ending bit but OMG so good)

I just watched Akira and Paprika, I liked Akira better to be honest. Paprika confused the hell out of me at first.

Eh, it was pretty straight forward for me. Though I'm one of those kinds of people that get movies like Tekkonkinkreet the first time through.

Being the kind of person who takes everything literally I needed my Anime Movie-buff friend to help explain some of the movie.

You should check out Howl's Moving Castle and Porco Rosso.
Two more: Nausica and the Valley of the Wind and Princess Mononoke.

We're discussing anime, and particularly Ghibli, and you've all failed to mention My Neighbor Totoro!? I am disappoint! Also, if you don't mind an anime tv series instead of a movie (though there is a movie), Cowboy Bebop is good. As in, I've never heard of someone who DIDN'T like it. EVER.
