I use the Adobe Creative Suite for all of my design work. CS4 up until now. I am currently waiting on education verification to upgrade to CS5.5 for Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. I think I'll keep using CS4 for Fireworks, Flash and Dreamweaver. And any specific things you want to see as far as examples go?

What does Fireworks do exactly, Ive never heard of it other than listed on adobe's website.

An explanation would be good but a before/after sample would be fantastic to see what it can do.

Maybe 2.8 will be better...

Fireworks is what I use to create buttons for websites. For example, I can create a rollover (when your mouse is hovering over the button, it changes) then save it in a way that is easily insertable into Dreamweaver or an HTML file. Unfortunately, I don't have an example that really shows that well. For people who are familiar with Adobe/Macromedia products, and/or are design minded (rather than code minded), it is easier to create elements like that in a program that then writes the CSS for you rather than writing it yourself.

One thing that I can link to that I used Fireworks for is the menu I created for a family member's business. (http://www.guytonproperties.com/cottonoil.html). The website isn't fully functional, but the menu bar can give you an idea of what is doable in Fireworks. EDIT- in the link, on the menu bar, scroll over PROPERTIES to see what I'm talking about.

TL;DR- Fireworks helps design minded people add Java/CSS elements to their websites.

I have only really made one thing for a banner but it hasn't been reviewed by the person who wanted it so maybe later.
