Recommendation for the best texture pack

I've seen a whole lot of different texture packs used by you guys and girls and I really want to leave the realm of defaultness. I've been using the default textures for the past 4 or 5 months and I'm getting sick of it. So, in your opinion, which one would you recommend?

Qualities that reach a "THE BEST" rating:
Quick updates to block additions
Doesn't give an unfair advantage (e.g. zero fog at bedrock)
High definition
Doesn't cause local lag
Makes any structure look good

I don't know if this it the "best" but I personally like John Smith 32x32 texture pack. Heres a link with pictures and a download if you're interested: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/267 ... ustomizer/

Connorartman97 made one called Despeckled. I don't know how it looks, but lots of people say it's cool.

I like (and use) Vattic's Faithful pack. It stays as true to the original as possible, but at 32x32 resolution.

I use HD Photo Realism. I use 128 x 128 version. 256 made me crash on Minerealm.

I don't like the textures most packs use for stone.. I find it makes mining boring, for some reason, when they make stone look horrible. I also prefer normal picks/tools/armor...

Other then that, I like and use 'tydoku' texture pack. Looks nice, I love cobble in said pack, which is a nice improvement :D

My favorite texture pack is the default one.

Is that really needed here? After all, posting things like that makes your post count look bad. Try and post things that help.
On-Topic: It really depends on what you like, so experiment with the ones others suggested, and if you can't find a good one, make one!

+1 for the Photo Realism pack. It's amazing. Either the 128 or 256 if you can get away with it.
