2012 The Year Ahead

As is the tradition of this time of year to make and break new year's resolutions for the coming year ahead, it is also a time to try and haphazardly predict what changes and events will happen throughout the coming year and how we might all end up this time next year.
And just as it was with the turn of the millenium for some reason 2012 has been picked out as either the beginning of a new era or the end of all things.
Not sure what to make out of all the outlandish things people make conjured up about this year. Will anything special happen this year or will it be just like any other. Certainly makes one chuckle.
I for one will be looking forward to the Olympics this year as it coming home to dear old Blighty.
2012 has been designated Alan Turing Year, commemorating the mathematician, computer pioneer, and code-breaker on the centennial of Turing's birth. Some one we can celebrate as contributing indirectly to helping us play minecraft today as an early computer pioneer.
So what new years' resolutions have you made this year and are you still counting on being here this time next year?
My New Year's resolution for this year is to finish my driving lessons and pass the driving tests.
