how do I film xbox 360 gameplay?

Is there some kind of fraps for the xbox, or something easy to use or free that I could use to record gameplay?

Yes, it's called tv recorder or something. You plug into tv, and other end is a USB output which you plug into computer/laptop. I have one at home, I'll post it's name here when I go back home later today.

If you want HD quality you can go for an HD PVR but they are expensive. For bad quality go for a Pinnacle Dazzle.
