Idea for Minecraft in general: Waves.

What does anyone think about waves for minecraft? Maybe just subtle one block high ripples near the shore, going up on to the land level to it, or larger, 3 blocks high waves coming in from ten blocks out.

If conditions were right, waves curling over into a O shape as they crash down, to be pulled back by the block under it creating an undertow.

I just thought this would be cool for water biomes, as the water sitting next to sand doesn't seem all too real.

Maybe for future updates, for now I'm just excited for the
    1.8 & 1.9 updates

Sounds cool :) I think if you throw a block into the water, it should splash too.

Have fun watching the server struggle to process moving every single water block that qualifies to do this action, and then reset that action :\. You've seen how laggy sand fall is on multiplayer servers. I don't even want to imagine this xD

Panthers everyone said that torches that light up in your hand would cause to much lag but Jeb and Notch said that they were finding a way to do that plus dual wielding. They also said they were succeeding so anything is possible.

But you have to remember that it isn't lighting up places with a torch in your hand or having two blades at your disposal. This is the server moving a crap load of blocks, every minute of the game.

I am fairly sure that moving blocks of light causes the same amount of lag as moving water.( I know sounds strange to me to but it is true) There is more water moving then people walking with torches I guess.

I agree with this, it might be good for single player, but it would probably make SMP servers laggy.

What a coincidence. The other day I was just imagining tides, how they could be low or high sometimes, but realized that wouldn't work so well because of the cubic structure of MC.

    I don't feel like lagging.
