Is there going to be one soon? What exactly will it do? (Keep RC?)

We have a server wipe every time Intelli dictates it. We have no reason to believe there will be one in the near future.

I suspect 1.8 will require one though, with all the new blocks being added.

Intelli didn't seem like he was planning for a 1.8 wipe. But who knows?

A map wipe could happen for 1.8, depending on what all is added to the game and when.

*I just heard that there may be a server wipe when the new 1.8 Minecraft comes out, due to all the new additions.

If the map file format for 1.8 changes (unlikely) we will have to wipe. Otherwise it is optional.

Personally I'd like a wipe for 1.8. All of the chunks in the -5000 to 5000 range have already been generated, so we can't get any of the new content without expanding the map or wiping.
