Mistakes on Minecraft you made when you were a Noob

This doesn't have to be about SMP, just anything you did in Minecraft that, when you look back on it, was very noobish. I'll start.

-For about the first month when I was starting out, I was convinced the only way to swim was to mash the Spacebar key, and that the harder you pressed it the more efficiently your guy would swim. This made gameplay very intense, especially when I tried to cross vast oceans. It would actually get very tiring to the point where I have to rest and almost drown :o.

-I also assumed after witnessing the physics of Sand and Gravel, that you needed to adequately support your structures or else they would collapse. I had support beams and columns up the yin yang.

I have two:

-When I first started playing (a week or so before I got the game) I tried to mine some trees down by rapidly clicking the left mouse button...

-Not exactly from when I was a noob, but, I tried to kill a spider jockey with 2 hearts left. At the time, I had no idea that when you killed one, the other still attacked.

I don't remember making any mistakes in singleplayer, but I remember I asked how to chat on multiplayer. I asked using the chat.

Same thing happened to me Bonejunky, but that was the only mistake I made. (I read the Minecraft wiki, A LOT) But one thing I remember as clear as day, the first diamond I had ever mined.

I remember when I first started playing and I couldn't remember any crafting recipes so I had the wiki open 24/7. And I would always build my houses in mounds of dirt and every time I walked out I would get creeper bombed, good times.....

-When I needed 1 or 2 of an item, I used to split a stack in half, in half again, and again, until I had the desired amount! A lot of clicking...

-I mined right under me to start a mine shaft, and quickly found out that was a bad idea.

None for me either :) I bought minecraft came straight to multiplayer on this server and was taught the quick basics by a friend and then took off from there with no mistakes :)
