Before taking a film class, I despised old, out dated movies.
I was wrong and learned that many movies made in the past are better than some of the movies that are made today, even with modern technology.
Unforgiven was one of the top/most influential films to me.

Like I said, they just don't make movies like these types anymore. Everything about the movie was original. There needs to be more Originals coming out. Not some stupid COWBOYZ and ARIENS. What got me into this kind've stuff was my Flim as Lit class.

My friend's major is film and I must say he is a very lucky fellow. He landed an internship with Warner Brothers and he basically works there now. This is incredible! How many people are given the chance to work with Warner Brothers right after they graduate from High School? He was able to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two one week before it came out in theater.

Cowboys and Aliens is basically a Sci-Fi movie and I do not plan on spending my hard earned money on it.
But Rise of the Planet of the Apes, that is a different story.

And Steven Spielberg is an alumnus of the college I current go to :)

Is there a reason why you picked UVA?
And have you decided on a major yet?

I liked Cowboys and Aliens, but you can't have a really good western without either Clint Eastwood or John Wayne. And since the latter happens to be dead...

My personal favorite as far as Westerns go is The Wild Bunch. I also enjoy Akira Kurosawa's films, such as Yojimbo, Rashomon and Seven Samurai. A little Toshiro Mifune went a long way back then.

I think I own nearly all of Clint Eastwood's westerns, but I could never really get behind John Wayne films. As for other westerns, the remake of 3:10 to Yuma was pretty good. I also highly recommend Duck, You Sucker (aka A Fistful of Dynamite) and Once Upon A Time In The West. I've heard good things about The Proposition and The Good, The Bad and The Weird, though I've yet to see either of them.
