yeah im working on a new skin for my guy and can't seem to make the outside helmet/hood right. i have used other examples as templates to position the helmet/hood, but whenever i put on the skin and go into a game, the helmet doesn't show. any help? i use paint on my acer pc. where the hood is in the picture is where im having trouble. i make my hood in the same area, but it doesn't show up when i use it for gameplay.

You can't have all of the helmet section covered. It does not work and will just show the head.

what do you mean by covered? i used eraser on all the area around the hood, just the pixels that are part of the hood are there.

If you use Paint, it will not work. Instead of having transperancy where the spaces in the hood are, it will be replaced by white. There has to be at least one pixel of transperancy for the helmet to work. I suggest using Gimp to make transparent layers to make skins. SkinEdit is good too.

i used gimp, made the hood the same way as it was on paint. and still doesn't work or show up in game. am i not setting what layer the hood is in right? is this a transparency issue again?

That is what the skin should look like, except this is a zoomed version of it.

The grey checkered places are transparent. In the Hat section, there has to be at least 1 pixel erased. When you erase a pixel, it will go transparent.

On this picture, I have the bottom of the helmet taken out because it wasn't needed. If I had it filled in, it would not have worked.

It CANNOT be white. White is NOT transparency.

If you are a beginner with making skins, I suggest that you use SkinEdit. It is easy to use and good for beginners.

Just use minersneedcoolshoes.com. Simple enough.

I have never heard of that website (no sarcasm) but it seems like a good one.

Yeah. I created my skin there.
