It's extremely stale. At this point even I would like a new map, so long as we get refunded for out plots.

If there ever is to be a new map, I'd like to see a new model for map renewal. Something along the lines of a resource map that gets wiped regularly (every 6 months / once a year / when new blocks are added). You'd earn credits for mining there, so that would be the place to get your resources to build with.
Then a permanent but smaller map for building that could be expanded as new biomes become available. No credits earned there (so less incentive to strip it and make it ugly) but you wouldn't have to worry about your builds being wiped. And a Nether and End that are wiped when new blocks come out, but no more often than once per year.

Wiping the Nether regularly is a big call, Jen - a lot of work goes into developing nether roads and wither skele spawn pads, and terrain really shouldn't be wiped unless the terrain generation model is updated by Mojang, which is rare for the nether.
Regular wipes with the same terrain would just lead to people recording the location of pockets of quartz ore and knowing exactly where to dig after the next wipe.

The entire currency system should be overhauled. It's not ideal or realistic to have players dig out an entire plot just so they can buy more. The efficiency enchant should be banned too.
Intelli did say he wanted to "bring minecraft back to its roots." I can't imagine a better way to do that.
