A suggestion I would love, but do not know if its too niche

I have a problem , there is a ton of animals spawning on my property, sometimes in areas I really do not want them.
Examples:
my horse pens have grass floors which is more appealing to me, sheep keep spawning in my horse pens, behind my horse pens there is a mountain range cows and pigs wander down from the mountains into my horse pens area.

My mooshroom pen does not have 20 mooshrooms in it, so random animals keep spawning in the pen or on that property.

Cows keep spawning in my storage because I have a grass pit to harvest grass and mycelium.

I could take out the grass floors in the pens, but that does not stop the issue of animals wandering onto my property from the bordering mountains .

I would like the ability to turn off neutral spawns on property ( possibly include breeding just to be fair) .

I was wondering how many other people would actually like this suggestion, or tweak it a little.

I think the biggest problem is the animal protection system. Usually players kill off any wandering animals however with the new system animals are starting to stagnate in realms that may not even be used. Fixing this system to which only renamed mobs cannot be hurt may be a better solution.

If animals bother you, can't you build simple traps like a lava pit around your borders to remove unwanted animals? It seems easier than someone needing to fish up enough nametags to rename a bunch of animals, since not everyone has working villagers to dispense nametags when needed.
If you don't want animals in your plot you could also build a wall, put up fences, or make a moat that will kill them off and build collapsible bridges (with pistons) across or just keep killing them and enjoying the free bits of resources and XP that come with them.

As for animals walking into owned realms that are no longer in use, there's nothing to really do about that other than physically pushing the animal along with you until you're both out of the realm like use to be done in the ol' times of minecraft when you wanted to move an animal.
I would also say ignoring it because it's not your realm if you have no perms in it, but I'm sure there's some extraneous circumstances that could be argued.
Of course, all this is null if they follow wheat/seeds/whatever (I hardly ventured outside my own realms, don't know if it works in realms you don't own) in which case I fail to see how it's a problem at all.

Just my two cents.

I am currently changing the buildings floors, but for the mountains I will probably end up having to kill them :( or make a free pen, I am sure a new person would love a couple animals.

I've been experiencing this problem as well, tons of animals spawn every few minutes it seems on my land near my iron farm and they're despawning some of my villagers. Needless to say its very annoying and I've already had to cover up the grass with a bland lit up floor so as to prevent the copious amounts of animals threatening the villagers.

I was going to put up a suggestion for this myself especially after the third time my villagers despawned in a week. They're easy enough to replace but it feels silly having to run around with a sword trying to keep the populations of animals down and then having to cover up all my grass and erecting a fence just so they dont come anywhere near.

As far as the animal protection thing goes I dont think its really that much of a problem outside spawn. Within spawn there is a higher concentration of animals than anywhere else on the server. This area is pretty much always loaded and any animals despawning are constantly replaced. Since theres really no point to having these animals at spawn this suggestion would only serve to help server performance. And taking away animal protection, even just at spawn wouldnt help solve the issue, the animals get replaced very quickly and as soon as they'd killed off they would be back. This is a more lasting solution to the problem. As it is, breeding animals at spawn doesn't work at all, the newly bred animal just despawns instantly because of all the other animals in the surrounding plots, some of them having wandered into areas no one will probably ever find them.

I know myself, and a fair few others like Darth, who would rather animals not spawn anywhere near our villagers or other specific animal farms especially horses, which are a pain to breed to perfection. If people were given the option to turn off the animal spawning in their plots it would really help out the server if it didnt have to spawn, and keep loaded, tons of animals no one will use or kill. The only reason I didn't put up this suggestion in the past is because I felt the server was too quiet and needed some people coming back to not only realize this problem, but also vote on a suggestion to help remedy it. I also hope this slightly vague title gets people to view the thread and vote on it. However seeing as now its the holidays and theres nearly 25 people on the server as I type hopefully that means that this thread can get some attention.

Now as far as implementing something like this, it cant be easy, so even if accepted this probably wont be realized until a much later date, but I feel it'll still be relevant even as we move into next year because theres not much sense in having tons of animals roaming around spawn that no one can utilize, and taking up memory. So with that I obviously vote yes on this with the hopes that enough other people will, even if they don't know quite what the issue is with having lots of animals around. Well there's nothing wrong with it, but its just a better use of server resources. If you want animals to spawn on your plot you still can, and if you don't then this is for you. I hope this doesnt end up being too long, and if it is sorry I'll try to break it up into manageable chunks.

Thank you for pointing out the spawning problem, I catch the animals lead them to my free pen, and by the time I get back up to my horse pens two or three new ones have spawned, the sad thing is I am out in the goonies and still having this issue.

Ah. A good ol' discussion over the persistent problem of unbalanced mob spawning.

Too many in captivity - no more spawn.
Too little in captivity - too many spawn.

Omg this too has been driving me nuts. I have a small horse pen and I've made it so wandering animals can't get in but they keep spawning inside.

What is the passive mob limit again? 10? 20? 50?

Regarding passive mob protection, I honestly don't see how it is an issue. If it's not your plot you have no reason nor the right to go around killing animals. I love the mob protection. To finally have animal pens with animals out in the open without encasing them in glass so players don't kill them is awesome.
