Long story short, some minecraft mods have the possibility of containing virus-like scripts of code. In this case, the Pixelmon Mod was found to have lines of code that would shut down the server it was being run on if the server was on the Pixelmon creator's "blacklist." Mojang, however, has intervened, and the malicious code will be removed from the Pixelmon mod in the mod's next update.
That said, be alert that some mods may contain virus-like codes, and they won't be detected by your anti-virus systems because they are a minecraft mod.

Sounds like the Gregtech issue with FTB, except he crashed clients of people that dared to use mods that modified his (oh the irony). But yeah, I've never understood the complete lack of ethics in mod developers that think it's perfectly legit to write malicious code to settle a personal score.

Optifine and a chatlogger, myself. I used to use Convenient Inventory and ShaddowCraft, but, sadly, they stopped being updated.

Always check the mods history, along with the creators history. Also look in the files for backdoor scripts.
