So I'd been thinking about Daimond_Boss's MineRealm history book idea, and I realized that we already have a place to write information about our users and history: the wiki. Think about it: Wikipedia is much more detailed and accurate than most history books. I was going to suggest that we try to revitalize the wiki, starting by writing pages about ourselves, but then I tried to write my own and realized that I'm not much of a wiki page writer. So here's my idea: we find a historian.

Not necessarily an actual historian, of course, but someone who's actually capable of writing organized wiki pages, as well as knowing how to interview people and get as much (detailed, if possible) information about MineRealm history as possible. I'd be willing to help as much as I can (although I'm not much of a historian), and possibly provide some monetary compensation in the form of enchanted items. Of course, this wouldn't just be a project for one person. It would be ideal to have as many people possible involved to help provide information and corrections. So, anyone up for it?

I would love to help with this, considering I have been playing for almost a year and knew practically nothing of the wilderness until a few weeks ago. If we had a full wiki I would have known a lot sooner.

I am willing to help and write for the Wikipedia page, however, I am not willing to research the information. It should be divided into the categories and subcategories (ex Wild; most common users of the wild, resource advantage etc.) I think in terms of who gets their personal story on the actual page should be the people who have played on MineRealm, Staff and of coarse the players who are the "best" or simply have loads of builds to brag about (COWBOY thats you). so yeah

Starting out with making a wiki page for ourselves may be a good idea. Its just to put a list here with an example what to add.

Name, how long you been on MineRealm what you like to do (mine/build/chat/whatever)

Maybe put in some links to your most important threads an a picture of your base/ something you are proud of. Then should others be able to add and modify, but its a good start.

Next up is the diffrent guilds, which also could be added as a list (with links) describing the guild phenomena and then each guild could present themselves in some way. Like their own history, and main projects and such.

This is the easy part but it would be a start. I think those should be focused on facts, and no respectless opinions about others or the guilds. I am into this idea, but am not very creative when it comes to new ideas, and someone would have to help fix my grammar/spelling.

Excellent idea. One of the main problems I ran into when trying to make a wiki page for myself was that I wasn't sure how to format it. This helps.

Ohhhhh.... I just chose a random wiki-page to see what it looked like. I ended up at "Appeal" - This wiki indeed need to be improved =/

If your going to be cleaning up the wiki, please PM me any pages that need to be deleted and I'll get onto it as soon as I can.

EDIT: Also looks like images are broken as of march last year. You can no longer upload images to the wiki and URL embedding is very dodgy.

How about we try and copy all the good stuff across to a Wikia instead of using the Minerealm Media Wiki. Mediawiki is a little outdated and very difficult for the every day user to comprehend, leading to its current state of stagnation. If this one becomes good enough Intelli might change the link up the top for us.
