Nope - it needs to be built on spawn chunks to prevent the villages merging.

Yep that will work, though it's a bit pointless ... just go to your nearest ocean with a Looting III sword and you'll have a couple of stacks in no time. That design is pretty much just relying on removing all water sources other than the squid farm water blocks to limit spawn area and thus increase spawn rate within the farm, then uses a lava blade to kill them and hoppers to collect the loot. Nothing weird or unusual about it that wouldn't work in MineRealm.

It might not work as it does in vanilla. Since hoppers-check is 8, the hoppers would not always pull in the ink sacks immediately. 7/8 of them might burn in lava and 1/8 might be collected by the hoppers. It all depends on how long an item needs to be in contact with lava before it is destroyed. If it's shorter than 8 ticks, you won't get all the ink sacs. Though, with a large enough farm, the loss is negligible.
EDIT: You might consider replacing the lava with signs. When the squid reach the non-solid blocks at the bottom, they slowly die and all items are sucked in the hoppers.
Again, as TJ said, you still have wide open oceans. Idk how squid hunting compares to squid farming, but I know ink sacs are important for dyeing hardened clay and glass black and gray colors.
